Eating High Cholesterol Foods Do Not Cause Heart Disease (Study Finds)

For decades, cholesterol has been touted to cause heart disease, but recent studies and many experts agree that it is not true. Sure, there are different types of cholesterol, but it’s wrong to vilify cholesterol in its entirety. One of the richest sources of dietary cholesterol are eggs, but for years because the cholesterol myth, it has been recommended by health experts to moderately consume eggs. However, a recent study[1] conducted by researchers in Finland lead Jyrki K. Virtanen, an adjunct professor of epidemiology at the University of Eastern Finland found eating eggs does not cause heart disease.

He said as quoted from NYTimes;

Moderate intake of cholesterol, including up to one egg a day, doesn’t seem to increase the risk of heart disease, even among those people at higher risk.Jyrki K. Virtanen

A Harvard article also mentioned a study eating egg in moderation up to one egg per day does not increase risk of developing heart disease in healthy individuals. However, Harvard also noted that it’s different when an egg is consumed along with other foods that are not heart-friendly.

In the past, Dr. Barry Sears authors of the book The Zone and Toxic Fat agree that cholesterol is not the culprit of heart attack during his interview with Pat Robertson at CBN.
